Dear
Chair and Councillors,
Planning
permission for the Pocket Park (ref 141601) was granted consent at Planning
Applications Committee in December 2014. Application ref 161713 for Non
Material Amendments to the approved scheme has now been submitted for
consideration by officers, and the Chair, Vice Chair of Planning Committee and
local ward members. The alterations to include:
1. The existing
concrete balustrade at podium level ( the same level as the former front
entrance to the old Civic building) to be retained ( was to be replaced with
glazed panels) and the open sections created by the demolition of the existing
building to be in filled with metal fencing to match the existing (vertical
bars with a circular design at the top).
2. The site
access road created into the park site from the IDR will not be removed but
landscaped over and subsumed into the park.
3. The proposed
landscape mounds are not required so this area are will become flat.
4. Lighting will
be in the form of standard 5m high column lighting, opposed to LED pedestal
lighting.
5. Where the
civic building is dismantled areas of the concrete beam (it sits on) will be
exposed, these areas are now proposed to be ‘made good’ with a flat appearance
rather than the existing corrugated concrete appearance.
6. Within the
park wildflower grass is to be replaced with amenity grass following
consultation with the Councils ecologist.
7. The wire mesh
security fencing around the pocket park to be substituted for lower height
timber post and rail fencing.
Please
see attached plan, and if you require any further information please contact
me. The proposal are considered to be acceptable minor amendments by planning
officers, if you have any comments on the scheme please contact me by 12th
October so I will assume you have no formal objection.
