Dear Sir
Please find attached comments from the Council’s Transport officer. Clearly
more details are required to allow for a full assessment of the application.
In addition officers
have concerns regarding the proposed mixed use as it is considered the car
sales business will harm the appearance and residential character of the site
and area, results in the loss of residential land and causes harm to
residential amenity through comings and goings of the potential customers. It
is therefore contrary to policies CS7 (Design and the Public Realm) and CS17
(Protecting the Existing Housing Stock) of the Reading Borough Core Strategy
2008 and policy DM4 (Safeguarding Amenity) of the Reading Borough Sites and
Detailed Policies Document 2012. Without prejudging the outcome of the
application, officers are unlikely to support the proposals.
